nominations for 2026 will open in late spring

The DYNAMITE! Community Spirit Award aims to celebrate an individual in the Louisville Area Community who has added great value to the Louisville Area Community through volunteerism or other public service.

  • The Award Announcement will occur during the Annual DYNAMITE! Pete Days Community Bingo Event.

  • Award recipients will assist in direction of event proceeds towards a Louisville Area Community organization of their choice.

Criteria for Award Recipient

  • Louisville Area Resident as defined by Louisville Area Foundation Boundary Lines.

  • Recipient May be Living or Posthumous

  • Jerry is a lifelong resident of Louisville. Candy has lived in Louisville for 53 years. Jerry & Candy both graduated from Louisville High School in 1974. They were married in 1975. They have two sons and two granddaughters and one

    Golden Doodle. Son Jason and fiance Ann Fisher live in Louisville, their daughters are Dannielle and Harper McClun. Son Aaron and wife Tiffany, live in Bellevue Nebraska. Jerry is retired from Union Pacific Railroad where he was a Senior Systems Consultant in Information Technologies. Candy is retired from Zurich Insurance where she was a commercial lines underwriter.

    Jerry and Candy love Louisville - "we enjoy the relaxed lifestyle of a small town where we know our neighbors and our neighbors know us. Louisville is a great place to raise a family with a great school system. We appreciate the number of people who are willing to step up and volunteer their time for youth and civic organizations. Our diverse Main Street business district allows us to shop locally."

    Jerry and Candy have certainly shown love for their community through their DYNAMITE community service!

    • Member of Louisville Volunteer Fire Department for 46 years, where he has

    • Held offices of Rescue Captain, President, Chief and is currently serving as

    • Deputy Chief. Jerry has been a licensed Emergency Medical Technician for 45 years.

    • Louisville City Council member since 2010 and is currently Council President.

    • Immanuel Lutheran Church - Youth Group Sponsor, Catechism teacher, Board of Education, Board of Trustees and is currently serving as a member of the Board of Elders.

    • Former Cub Scout Den Leader

    • Former member and past president of Louisville Music Boosters

    • Former member of Louisville Library Board

    • Former member of Louisville Planning Commission

    • Served on Louisville Care Center Advisory Board, most recently as board

    • Chairman, for over 20 years until facility sale.

    • Member of Louisville Public Library Foundation

    • Member of Louisville Volunteer Fire Auxiliary for 45 years.

    • Immanuel Lutheran Church - former Youth Group Sponsor, member of the Ladies Evening Fellowship group and has served as one of the organists for 42 years.

  • Event Proceeds for 2025 were $1000

    • $500 was directed to the Louisville Volunteer Fire Department

    • $500 to the Louisville Library Foundation
